About my teaching
I've been teaching at St. Mary College, a small college specializing in English, for six years.
St. Mary College is a small, friendly school where the students, teachers, and staff are
supportive and interested in trying new things. Our family-like atmosphere fosters a learning
environment that proves successful and rewarding for everyone involved.
I enjoy teaching writing classes the most because I have always liked writing and I feel that
through writing students can easily measure their progress in learning English. Students
often find writing boring and difficult, so I love the challenge of creating interesting writing
classes and the satisfaction I get when my students become interested in the subject. I also
enjoy teaching other skills such as listening, speaking, reading, TOEFL, TOEIC, and critical
thinking.
I'm quite interested in CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) and incorporate online
elements into most of my classes. I believe CALL is an important approach to teaching
languages because students can learn to use new technologies while accessing course
materials any time. As part of my interest in CALL, I have developed a podcasting class this
year in which the students plan, create, and publish their original podcasts on our class
blog page. The class gives the students a chance to showcase their creativity and English
skills while projecting to a global audience.
My homepage has been created to help students practice a variety of English language
skills. I hope you enjoy looking through the website, trying some of my original activities and
materials, and learning English.
